I am SO EXCITED... Our class has received Studies Weekly for our class. These weekly newspapers will take us through the topics to be covered throughout the year. We have a class set, so they will remain in the classroom. Students will bring home login information this week to give them access to viewing the reading, activities, and videos on the website. Students can also earn points for doing different things on the site. Watch for login information to come home soon. If your child is absent, this is a great way to keep them up to date with what we are doing in class or to review information with your child in the evenings and see what we are learning. - Week of August 20 - 24

The classes reviewed responsibilities for their IAN and the SS Themes. We discussed the Constitution and how these rules and laws were made for those living in the new United States. Students are working together to create a set of classroom rules/agreements for our class.
We are almost at 100% for our class fees/dues ($20). Please send these in so your child can receive their agenda. Also, a number of Parent Volunteer Contracts have not be sent in. If you still have this at home, you can send it with your child. Thank you for your help.
August 2, 2018
Today we discussed one of our Themes, Conflict. A few students brought the 8 questions we worked on in class to finish at home.
Tomorrow, we will be setting up our InterActive notebooks. If your child did not have a composition notebook in class, their homework is to bring it with them to class tomorrow.
If you have not sent in the paperwork to the school (pink KCSMA, yellow Clinic, Technology, Internet, Volunteer, and/or the Free & Reduced meal forms), please send that in as soon as possible. 4th grade also has a $20 Class Fee/Due. Once this is paid, students will receive their Agenda to use in class.

All students need to have their Composition Notebook in class by Friday, as we will be setting up their InterActive Notebook (IAN). Our notes and worksheets will be glued into the IAN throughout the year. If your child has a glue stick, that will be helpful in quickly gluing material in.
See you bright and early tomorrow.

The Unit Test is coming up quickly... Here are some ways to prepare.
On Thursday, we will review wrap up our discussions on the Revolution Battles. Students will again bring home their IANs to have another night to review. Wednesday they brought it home to review pages 40 & 42. Thursday, they will review pages 43 - 45. We will also use some class time to being reviewing for the test.
On Friday, we will take our last quiz of the Unit. Students will receive their quiz back on Monday. All quizzes we took for this Unit are a great resource to prepare for the test. Their quizzes should be in the Social Studies section of their binder.
This weekend, Students will bring home a Unit Review assignment over the weekend that is due on Monday in class for a grade. The students can use any of their resources in their IANs to help on ones they are unsure of. It is a good idea for them to try to do the ones they know first, then move on to the ones they are not sure of. Use it like a PreTest to see what they need to review.
On Monday, we will continue with our review and go over the answers to the Unit Review homework.
WHAT TO STUDY...
The student's IANs are one of the best resources, as these are the notes we have taken throughout the unit.
Past quizzes from this unit are a great place to go for review.
Studies Weekly is another great resource. Students will focus on Week 3 - 8.
On my RESOURCES page which you find by hovering over my name above, you will see articles on many of the topics we have discussed over the past 7 weeks. Students can read any or all of these to review for the test.
